The world’s largest and most important event on sustainable fashion, Copenhagen Fashion Summit, took place on May 12th. ISKO™ is one of the proud sponsors of the event. Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Copenhagen Fashion Summit highlights the global fashion industry’s most innovative solutions to critical environmental, social, and ethical challenges.

The summit, held at the Copenhagen Concert Hall, gathered more than 1,200 influential people from around the globe including decision makers, trendsetters, and opinion leaders in fashion, business, and politics.

Hosted for the fourth time, Copenhagen Fashion Summit has become the global focal point for innovative solutions and the international fashion industry’s preferred venue to exchange knowledge and experiences on the global challenges that face the industry.

Speakers included in the program boasted a strong line-up of speakers – from the globally renowned sports brand NIKE to the multinational H&M. Among the keynote speakers were Vanessa Friedman – Fashion Director and Chief Fashion Critic at the New York Times, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Renzo Rosso President of OTB Group, and many others.

ISKO™ hosted a Denim Challenge. The omnipresent fabric has never gone out of fashion since first becoming popular during the California Gold Rush of 1849 – but is among the world’s most water-‐‑intensive processes. So ISKO’s 2016 Denim Challenge seeked to address this issue. In collaboration with the Danish Fashion Institute, we invited nine top international design talents to create one complete outfit in sustainable denim supplied and produced by ISKO™. The participating brands were selected by a committee consisting of the British Fashion Council, the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the Flanders Fashion Institute and the Nordic Fashion Association.

A jury of international fashion and sustainability experts then reviewed the denim designs and chose three outfits to receive a special mention, based on who most successfully merged environmental friendliness with cutting‑ edge design.

Members of the jury included Marco Lucietti from ISKO™, François Girbaud from Marithé+François Girbaud, Peter Frank from Nudie Jeans, Samuel Trotman from WGSN, Hassan Pierre from Maison de Mode and strategic fashion consultant Peter Ingwersen.

Participating brands of the Denim Challenge were:

  • Armoire Officielle (DK)
  • Damien Ravn (BE)
  • flavialarocca (IT)
  • Holly Fulton (UK)
  • Naim Josefi (SE)
  • SVILU (US)
  • Tome (US)
  • Twins Florence (IT)
  • Wåven (UK)
